In the superalloy and titanium alloy recycling industry, the cleanliness of metal chips prior to remelting is essential for the chemical composition of these alloys
The functions of a swarf washing line:
- Remove hydrocarbons carried over by cutting oils and chip emulsions
- Respect the residual carbon content in alloy formulations (we achieve chip surface carbon contents of less than 0.01%)
- Remove certain impurities carried over by water from emulsions
- Dry the chips to comply with the humidity levels acceptable by furnaces, and remelt them safely
- Recycle superalloys to a premium grade or aerospace grade
- Carry out the above processes with acid chemicals or alkaline chemicals, chosen in partnership with the user, in compliance with current environmental standards
- Ensure the recycling of rare, precious and geopolitically difficult-to-access resources and raw materials such as titanium or inconel-type nickel alloys
SFH offers washing machines that use chemical products to effectively eliminate hydrocarbons carried over by cutting oils and emulsions present on the swarf.
